Summer catch up part 2

We spent a day at Mammoth Cave National Park with the Florida cousins. And guess who we run into when we get there...more Florida cousins!!!! We had no idea that my cousin Josh's kids would be there with their mom! We all took the 2 hour 2 mile historical tour. It was very fun to be there all together. All the kids earned a Junior Ranger badge. The ranger was very impressed that there were 9 kids getting badges, he announced it to the whole visitor center!

All 9 kids with their certificates.

Big Moe at the rock shop. One of our favorite places to stop.

Summer catch up part 1...

We have had a busy summer!! We had lots of family visit from Florida and an Uncle from West Virginia. The kids always have a great time when the Florida cousins come up. They were here for the 4th of July fireworks. We visited McConnell Springs and a few of us went to the Humane Society. We played with a Chihuahau mix that I fell in love with. But I think one dog is more than enough for us right now.

Not doing a good job of keeping up with our blog....

Well, summer is more than half over and I haven't blogged even once I think. We were very busy at the beginning of summer getting our house cleaned and ready for company. My aunt and uncle from Florida came up along with my cousin Gina and her family. My uncle Steve also came over from West Virginia for the weekend while everyone else was there. They stayed a week and we did a few things with them. The next week my nephews came up for a few days and this week we are spending time with my cousin Donald and his son DJ. Next week we are off to Toledo to see Alyssa! Then we come home and have a couple of weeks before a wedding in Tennessee. And finally at the end of August we will be heading on a trip up north. We will be gone for 2 weeks making a small loop around the New England states. I hope to blog this trip every night like I did our last big trip. Oh and we hope to start school somewhere in there full time. We are doing a little refreshing of math right now and reading. And I am learning about the places we will be visiting so I can teach the boys about them. We are reading Skylark right now because it talks a lot about Maine. We just finished a book about the Salem Witch Trials. It was written for kids thank goodness....I was doing some research and got myself all upset and thinking why in the world did I want to go see the place where this happened. David said its so we will know to never let it happen again. We also just finished listening to The Watsons go to Birmingham. I love Christopher Paul Curtis!!! He is an awesome writer. Hate can really lead to bad things :(

When I have more time and the pictures off my camera I will post a few of the more educational things we have done this summer.
