We had another wonderful sign language class!! The teacher is great and seems to really like teaching the kids. They made exploding film canisters. It was a lively and loud class.

Farmington Plantation....
We drove to Louisville for a tour of Farmington Plantation. This plantation was owned by the the Speed family. Abraham Lincoln was the roommate of Joshua Speed, the son of the plantation owner. Lincoln visited here before he married Mary Todd. Before the civil war they grew hemp at the plantation which was planted and harvested by slaves. After the war they stopped growing hemp and grew corn and cabbages. Hemp was to hard to harvest.
After a tour of the house the kids made corn husk dolls. Then we went to lunch at Buckhead. I use to love this place when there was one in Lexington. But they were out of the meatloaf I use to like :( After lunch we went to Krispy Kream :) It was a great day, we enjoyed spending it with our friends.

KEEN co-op....
Our co-op in Georgetown started back on Feb. 5th. The boys are taking art, history, science and studing Japan. They are also doing the Kentucky History club.
The boys had projects to do for their history class. Michael had Samurai and Jacob had Vikings. The boys had fun making helmets and weapons. They both did really well with their presentations.
The boys were very happy to be back with their friends. I was happy to be back with my friends too :)

Seems I am always playing catch up!!!!!
Things have been busy!!! I am far behind with posting so I will be playing catch-up again.
I have been thinking a lot about a community service project with the boys. I want it to be something we can continue doing, not just a one time things. After visiting the animal shelter and seeing all the dogs locked up in cages we decided to go at least once a month and play with the dogs. I know it isn't a "save the world" kind of service but it is something close to our familys hearts.
We have been back once since we brought Diesel home. The people there remembered us and were happy that Diesel is doing so well with us. We bought some of their dog treats and started giving all the big dogs treats. Then we went in the puppy room. We took one of the puppies out of his cage and into the visiting room. Then we took out a pit bull puppy. I didn't know how fast they were. There were two in the same cage and getting one back in while the other was trying to get out was quite a sight!! Once the puppies were all back in the cage we went to walk a couple of the big dogs. We took out a Basset Hound. He wasn't very interested in playing but he took the opportunity while outside to go potty. He was so cute, big floppy ears almost to the ground. All these puppies want to be out of the cages and loved. So if you are looking to add a four legged member to your family consider a pound puppy.
