Big Bone Lick

I learned today that my hiking boots are indeed waterproof....unless you go in water higher than your boots :)  We went to Big Bone Lick in Union Kentucky with a homeschool group from northern Kentucky.  This was our second time visiting that park.  Both times we had programs with Todd Young, he is so good with the kids.  First we went to see the bison.  A couple came over to the fence so I started taking pictures.  Then one of them butted its head against the fence!!!  Todd told us that bison don't really like people.  He pointed out poison ivy and taught us how to tell it from other three leaf plants.

We headed to the wood pile to look for snakes and found one almost immediately.  Then Jacob and Reeves found a shed from a snake.  Todd took us down to the creek and showed the kids the correct way to look under rocks.  I took Brice into the creek and my boots stayed dry for a long time.  It wasn't until I was heading back to the bank that I lost my footing and went in over my boots.  My camera lens got in it a little too, but it was fine.  We had an awesome time being outside and spending time with our friends.   We set a record finding 9 snakes on our hunt!!!!

Before my boots went all the way in ;)
