Christmas 2013

Our Christmas was low key this year.  We were really busy with the play so we didn't get all of our decorations put up.  I didn't even put all our ornaments on the tree!  The interesting thing was we didn't even miss any of the things we didn't get up or done.  Our Christmas was still great!  Gave the boys their traditional Christmas Eve PJ's.  This year I even found some wolf sleep pants for David!  And he gave me some really cool Tardis slippers.

We gave Anthony some things for his Jeep.  Some really cool mats for the front and some tow hooks.  His gifts were really huge so I hid them around the house and wrapped up some very small boxes with notes in them telling him where the actual gift was hidden.

Jacob and Michael both wanted magic cards (well so did Anthony) we got them all a new set and David bought a box full of cards from his friend Joe. for all of them to share.  We also got Jacob and Michael some really cool remote control cars and some airplane models.

David gave me lots of t-shirts.  I think my favorite was "Moss" from The IT Crowd.  He also gave me all the Duck Dynasty bobble heads and also a Gysmo bobble head.

We gave David some tools and a knife.  I also gave him a new gun.  Jacob tried to give him a lighter with a wolf on it but even though we ordered in on November 12 it didn't come in time for Christmas :(

I made a ham and Larry came over for dinner.  It was a very nice day.

Diesel likes to be in all our pictures :)  Christmas Eve PJ's

The Life and Adventures of Santa Clause

All three boys tried out for the community theatre's Christmas show.  A friend of mine wrote the script based on the book by L. Frank Baum.  It is an enchanting story about how Santa Claus came to be.  Anthony was cast as one of the leads, Ak.  Ak is the master woodsman of the world.  He finds little Claus in the woods and commands the animals to take care of him.  It was a pretty big role and he had lots of lines to memorize.

Michael had three smaller roles.  He was Bill Knook, Jack Frost and Bo the Master Mariner of the World.  His Jack Frost costume gave me fits.  Took me forever to figure out what I wanted to do with it.  But for all the work it turned out great.

Jacob had 3 small roles as well.  He was a world villager.  It wasn't a speaking part but it was my favorite costume to make.  He was from Scotland and I made him a kilt!  He was also an Awgwa (Larry)....they were the bad guys of the play.  He says he like to have the evil roles ;)  He was also Kern, Master Gardiner of the World.

This show was full of sickness :(  But the kids pushed through even though several of them felt really bad during the last performance.  One of the kids was to come on stage and the rest of the kids winged it....don't think anyone really noticed that didn't know what was suppose to happen.

Michael got it the worst at our house.  He slept for 4 days!!  And didn't leave the house for a week!  He really must have had the flu.  Jacob had a pretty mild version of the stomach bug.  He didn't feel great but only threw up once.  Anthony, who hardly ever gets sick came down with a cold too.   I was sneezing and had a runny nose but nothing more.  Think I got lucky.

Halloween 2013

Halloween this year was different.  Jacob and Michael were to old to go trick or treating.  They were a little sad about it but a few weeks before they went to a Dr. Who party at the library.  They both dressed up for that ;)  Michael was William Hartnell the first Dr.  Jacob was Matt Smith, Dr number 11.

Trick or Treat was put off a day in our town because of bad weather.  So on Halloween I made our traditional "creepy" dinner.  The next day all of us sat outside and handed out candy.  The coolest costume that I saw was a kid dressed as Daryl from the Walking Dead.  We dressed Diesel up and he sat outside with us :)

Michael Carved the grim reaper, Jacob carved the Humane Society and I carved Jack Skellington.  Anthony didn't want to carve on this year.

Stress Less With Pets

Jacob and I volunteered with the Humane Society's Stress Less With Pets program at Georgetown College.  They bring in cats and dogs and the students come in and play with the animals during finals week.  They love it, and we love helping out with it.  This time it was smaller because a couple of people couldn't bring the animals they had planned on bringing.  I made an off hand remark that we couldn't bring our dog but we did have a few snakes.  Well one of the students heard me and insisted I go home and get one.  I brought back Rocky Sandboa.  He was a hit, oddly enough with the girls!
