Astronauts and home!!

This was painted by Allen Bean! We got to see an exhibit about him at the Air and Space Museum in DC.

We left Toledo this morning. My new GPS was giving me fits!!! It doesn't like when its cloudy.

On the way to Toledo on Monday we stopped for lunch in a little town called Wapakoneta. I stopped to get gas as well and from the gas station w saw a really cool looking building that was mostly underground. It was the Armstrong Space Museum. Jacob really wanted to go but I told him we should try to get to Toledo because Alyssa was waiting on us. I told him maybe we could stop there on our way home. Well he didn't forget and even remembered the exit number. So we stopped there today on our way home. It was a small place but we all enjoyed it. Turns out Neil Armstrong was born in Wapakoneta. Little piece of trivia.....A blue moon is when there are two full moons in the same calender month!!

We are home and I am tired!!!

On impulse.......

This morning we got up and met Alyssa's parents at the Toledo Museum of Art. They were picky about photography so I didn't get very many good pictures. We saw a couple Monets and to my great joy a Caulder mobil. They wouldn't let me take a picture of the Caulder piece :( The building itself is beautiful!! They have an auditorium that looks like it belongs in Greese or Rome.

After the museum we went back to the hotel and the kids swam for almost 3 hours! I couldn't decide what to ave for dinner so we just got in the van and drove down the road the hotel is on. I kept seeing signs for Maumee Bay state park. So on a whim I followed the signs and we ended up in a very pretty place. There was a beach and lots of big rocks. It was really to bad that we didn't find this place sooner. It would have been a great place to have a picnic and play for a few hours. It will definatly be on our list for next time. We stopped by Taco Bell and got food to bring back to eat on the pool patio at the hotel. So the kids are swimming again. Michael and Anthony have been swimming well for a long time, but Jacob has always been a little afraid of the water. Not anymore!! He is swimming under the water very well now.
Leaving for home tomorrow, I miss my husband!

Visiting Toledo

I drove the boys up yesterday to visit Alyssa in Toledo. Alyssa is Michael and Anthony's sister. Jacob also claims her as a sister and she as made him feel that way...thanks Alyssa!!

This trip was kind of not planned so we are winging it. Yestereday we went and picked up Alyssa, came back to the hotel to swim. It was raining pretty good but not storming so I let them swim in the rain. Around 11:30 last night it starts storming and I hear something. It sounds like running water. I thought it was the air conditioner but when I get up to check the window is leaking from the top. I put a couple of towels in under the window and left it alone. I didn't want them in our room at almost midnight and I didn't want to change rooms because Michael and Jacob were already asleep.

This morning we got up and went to the Toledo Zoo. We always enjoy this zoo, they have an awesome polar bear exhibit!! We saw some really cool fish and the octopus was very active. They also talked to a volunteer about the differences between a cheetah and a leopard. As always, Jacob amazed me with his knowledge about animals. It was pretty cool this morning but by the afternoon is was quite hot. So we left the zoo around 2 and came back to the hotel to go swimming. The kids swam almost 3 hours!!

For all the MASH fans out there....we had dinner at Tony Packos :) I had the sampler and got to try a hot dog and a cabbage roll. The cabbage roll was very good!
The kids are back in the pool. I bet they sleep good tonight.

Now I need to figure out what to do with these crazy wild kids tomorrow!!!

We started School on 8-13-09

On Wednesday I hit all the bookstores in Lexington and finished up curriculum shopping :) Then that night I took the boys to a "not back to school bash." It was with the middle school group. It was held at champs, the boys played laser tag and Anthony roller skated too. They had such a good time. Jacob made friends with a group of college kids. It was so funny watching him walk with them.

Thursday I decided to go ahead and start school. We had to be at the shop anyway so we just dove right in :)
