Lone Pine California

We left the Sequoia area this morning. Along the way we saw Red Rock Canyon and we could see the Sierra Nevada Mountains after a while again. We are at the southern end of them right now in Lone Pine. This is a unique place with rock and the mountains in the distance. Mt. Whitney is here, its the highest point in the continuous United States. Tomorrow we are headed for Death Valley and the lowest spot in the US.

Lone Pine has been used for lots of movies because of its interesting terrain. Lots of westerns and one of our favorite movies, Tremors. Also a few of the scenes from Iron Man were shot here.

Red Rock Canyon.

Tremors...the Graboid!
